Threat assessment is not an adversarial process; many threats are a cry for help. Having a team approach with a clear process allows for the safety of everyone involved. The process is designed to address, evaluate, and manage threatening behavior and troubling situations that may impact school safety. OCSU’s guide is based on best practices created by the U.S. Secret Service & U.S. Department of Education, and the need to follow these best practices are mandated by the Senate and House.

Hi All,
Just a quick reminder that we have a PTC meeting tonight, Tuesday 10/14 at 6PM in the Art/Music room at Albany Community School. Agenda here.
To support families attending the meeting, the gym and playground will be open for children. A high school volunteer (Ashton Peck) will be present to help supervise, but we ask that parents review the following ground rules with your children beforehand:
Be respectful and kind: Keep hands to yourself, avoid rough play, and use indoor voices while in the school.
Use equipment properly: Treat balls, toys, and playground gear as you would during school.
Stay together, in the right areas: Kids should remain in the gym or on the playground—no wandering the halls.
No food in the gym: To keep things clean and safe, no food please. Water bottles are okay.
Follow directions: Ashton, our high school volunteer, is there to help—please listen to him. If there’s an issue or someone gets hurt, let him or another adult know right away.
Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for outdoor play. If they bring toys or personal items from home, be prepared that they may be shared.
Looking forward to seeing you all!

But Chad’s efforts don’t stop there—he works hard all year long to make sure our school is clean, safe, and running smoothly. From early mornings to late evenings, he is always there to lend a hand, fix a problem, or keep things shining. His dedication, positivity, and pride in his work make a huge difference every single day.
Thank you, Chad, for everything you do for our students, staff, and school community. We truly appreciate you!

Can you believe this week means its been a month since school has started? And the vibes have been good, ya'll! The students are settling into routines, diving into lessons, and building community through advisory, clubs, and recess. Its been great to have our building so full of learning and laughter!
Our first year as a middle school has come with some positive changes. For example, our students have a wider variety of clubs to choose from, they're able to choose their own electives, and can switch between lunch and recess at their own pace. Ask your child about their clubs and advisory program.
We're excited to see what this year will bring but we're already off to a great start and we know more great things are coming our way. See you at the Harvest Dinner! Happy School Year!

We hope to see you all at the Harvest Dinner on September 17th from 4:00-6:00! The teachers will be hosting a presentation for families from 5:00-5:30 on our academic policies for all grades. We're looking forward to seeing you!
